First week of January

All:

It took the whole fall but we finally got our first regular season win on Monday, a 4-1 victory over the Knights Black team. It was a nice way to end the fall season and I feel we are progressing well as we get ready for the winter season. We just finished a successful 3 –day camp where our Minor Novices were skating and keeping up with the Novices -especially when it came to the scrimmages!! We will have a bit of a busy week when we get back as our first practices/games have been released and are below:

Sunday January 2nd Practise @ York Canlans 6:30-7:30

Tuesday January 4th Game @ Irene Risk 6:10 PM vs. Willowdale we wear BLUE

Wednesday January 5th Practice at Baycrest 5-6 pm

Thursday January 6th Game @ Commander Park Rink ONE 6:25 PM vs, Westhill Gold we wear WHITE

As mentioned earlier, the kids have really progressed well over the last few months and have begun to bond and play as a team.. Have a great holiday season and see you on January 2nd!

What a great weekend for the kids. They played better with each game. The coaches were especially proud of their efforts in the Final.

This is a big week for the team so make sure they get rest on the non-hockey night! Also, try to get their skates sharpened before the tournament if you can –there is a good place at the Fletcher arena but it may be busy so leave extra time.

Tournament Nutrition

-make sure that the kids are well hydrated before the first game and have had a good snack or lunch before the game and avoid junk food!

-we will have lots of water on the bench for the kids to drink

-after the game make sure the kids get a healthy carb snack like a bagel and fruit and I suggest chocolate milk over Gatorade

-unfortunately most arena food is not chosen for young athletes!

Last night game.November 12th

We had a great game against a really good team. We played very well in defense. The forward rush the puck and unfortunatly missed some scoring chances but they worked really hard. Jack was incredible in the net.

Well done boys. We are improving in every aspect of the game.

Tournament Update:

We looked at the tournament in Niagara Falls and came to the conclusion that teams would be too strong for us. We are now looking at a tournament in Brampton that we did last year and is the same weekend –Dec 3-5. More information to follow.

We had a great practice yesterday. The kids are improving in positioning and skating.

Our record is 1 tie and two losses. We can feel the first win is coming. GO RANGERS GO!

Tomorrow, we have our last skate at UCC. It will be a scrimmage with the Novice team. See you there.

As I am sure you’ve noticed, we are in the midst of an unusually busy week for our team. This week is a transitional week for the team in terms of schedules as our UCC ice ends this Friday and house league games start as well. Going forward, the schedule will be less demanding. We will discuss this on Thursday night, but in advance here is a preview of the schedule going forward:

Thursdays Angela Janes (Flemingdon) Arena 6:10 or 6:50 pm -House league game

Alternating Saturdays Mitchell Field 7 am (optional for Selects)

Alternating Sundays York Canlans 6:30-7:30 pm -Select Practice

Typically, we will have one select game/week during the week as we have blacked out the weekends all season. Having two select games in one week is not normal. As mentioned, the house league practices can be considered as “optional” for the select kids. Let me know if you have any questions on the schedule.

Hi everyone. Our next game is Monday October 25th against Humber Valley at Forest Hill Arena at 7:10pm.

Please have the kids ready 10 minutes before the game time.

Also we are playing a second game (Normally we won't play two games in a week) on Tuesday October 26th against Goulding Park at Irene Risk Arena at 6:55pm.

The're will be no practice on Tuesday of course.
